Australian vets rescue a Rare Golden Possum that looks like a Real Life Pikachu

Pikachu is an adorable and incredibly famous character from the popular franchise Pokémon, in which adorable little creatures called Pokémon (derived from the name “Pocket monsters”) battle each other and take part in different adventures.

Pokémon are very cute, and they are often very interestingly designed.

There’s no doubt that many of us have, at one time or another in our lives, imagined what it would be like if Pokémon were real, and didn’t just exist as cute animations.

Well, if you’ve ever wanted to see a Pokémon in real life, you’re in luck… sort of.

While not a real Pokémon, this beautiful little girl’s unusual colouring has left the internet in awe, and people have excitedly compared her to the famous Pickachu.

However, she is, in fact, a golden brushtail possum! The little possum was rescued after having fallen off her mother’s back and been left vulnerable and alone.

Luckily, a kind soul found and rescued her, and brought her to the Boronia Veterinary Clinic and Hospital in VIC, Australia.

Apparently, golden brushtail possums are simply common brushtail possums – just with yellow fur instead of brown.

The golden colour comes from a particular mutation, which causes low levels of melanin.

And as it turns out, although the most common colour for brushtail possums is brown, they can also be black, silver/grey, red, or yellow.

Unfortunately, the golden possums’ bright fur makes them stand out to predators, which is one reason for why they are so rare.

This lucky little girl, however, did not have to worry about all that. She got all the care, comfort and safety she needed after being rescued, and went on to live with a carer until it was time to fo her to be released into a wildlife preserve.

The golden possum’s unique beauty has delighted many people and has put smiles on countless faces, including ours.
